Glowing ghosts, 10-foot-tall puppets and a healthy dose of theatrical magic – that’s just a taste of what theatre-goers can look forward to at A WONDERHEADS Christmas Carol, running Dec. 2 to 23 at the Belfry Theatre.
Charles Dickens’ beloved A Christmas Carol has seen many adaptations since it was first published in 1843. And while it might be 180 years since Dickens first explored the idea of ‘Christmas’ and the values society puts on the holiday, the story’s underlying message of generosity, kindness and community is perhaps more relevant than ever before.
Adapted by WONDERHEADS Theatre , this captivating holiday masterpiece is full of treats and surprises for all ages, as Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits who teach him the true meaning of Christmas.
Running approximately 70 minutes long, and recommended for ages 7+, the playful, moving theatrical adaptation has received rave reviews and critical acclaim from sold-out audiences, quickly becoming a holiday tradition for many families.
The WONDERHEADS experience has often been described as ‘watching animation come to life’ thanks to their unique approach to storytelling.
“Our favourite thing is to see people’s faces light up at the sight of our masks and puppets,” says Kate Braidwood, Co-Founding Artistic Director, actor and mask-maker extraordinaire. “Visual storytelling allows us to open the door into the hearts and imaginations of our audience members, and our goal is to conjure up 70 minutes of unforgettable magic and wonder.”
