Berwick comes together to create a delicious holiday fundraiser

Looking for the perfect teacher’s gift this holiday season? Maybe something for that special co-worker who always has your back? Residents at Berwick by the Sea in Campbell River have created a delicious holiday gift that’s perfect for stocking stuffers or as a stand-alone present.

The best part? Funds raised from the sale of their ‘Gift in a Jar’ holiday treats go directly to supporting the local food bank.

From now until Nov. 30, purchase a ready-made ‘Gift in a Jar’ for just $10 from the reception desk at Berwick by the Sea.

Bulk orders are also available for orders of five or more jars by calling 250- 850-1353. This year they’re offering three delicious recipes to choose from: Christmas Brownie Mix, Christmas M & M Cookies, and Chocolate Peppermint Cookie Mix. Recipe instructions are attached to the jars and simply need the wet ingredients added before they’re ready to bake.

“These ‘Gift in a Jar’ recipes are the perfect gift that just keeps on giving – last year we raised over $3,300 for our local food bank and we hope to match if not exceed that number again this year,” says Loren Butler, Berwick Community Relations Manager.

The ‘Gift in a Jar’ idea came from Berwick’s Active Living Manager, Pat Palmer, who hand-picks all the recipes for the jars and passes them along to the food services team, who then shops for, fill, and seal the jars before passing them along to Berwick residents, who decorate and create the labels.

“This is one of our favourite holiday fundraisers because everyone at Berwick can get involved,” Butler says. “We would also like to say thank you in advance to our Island community for supporting our annual food bank fundraiser and helping us give back to our Island home during the holidays.”
